Community Pride, Community Wide: The Misery Loves Company Movement

By now, many people in Greater Cleveland are incensed at the fact that Forbes Magazine has ranked Cleveland, “America’s Most Miserable City”.  But Cleveland does not stand alone.  Canton, Akron, Toledo, and Youngstown also made the list, ranking 9th, 12th, 15th, and 18th respectively. After witnessing the reactions of many Ohioans who have chosen to embrace the moniker, it is clear that many of our cities are in dire need of a self esteem boost. The answer: The Misery Loves Company campaign, encouraging all Ohioans to "show community pride, community wide" by wearing Ohio gear this Monday, March 1st.

This morning, Forbes Magazine released its listing of America's Most Miserable Cities citing Cleveland, Ohio as the most miserable city in the country:

"This year Cleveland takes the top spot in our third annual ranking of America's Most Miserable Cities. Cleveland secured the position thanks to its high unemployment, high taxes, lousy weather, corruption by public officials and crummy sports teams (Cavaliers of the NBA excepted)."
